Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension: From Bench to Bedside 1st ed. 2017 Edition

[amazon template=iframe image2&asin=9812878394]

This book focuses on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, Group 1) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH, Group 4) among the various groups of pulmonary hypertension (PH) whose classification was updated into five major categories at the 5th World Symposium held in Nice, France, in 2013. Readers will find recent progress, methods, and up-to-date information on PH mechanisms, diagnostic images, and treatment in the management of PH.
This volume, with contributions by leading researchers worldwide in the field , consists of five parts, starting with the fundamentals of PH, then pathophysiology and genetics, treatment, and right ventricular function.

Atlas of Mitral Valve Repair

[amazon template=iframe image2&asin=0781746922]

This full-color atlas with accompanying video DVD provides a complete and practical “how-to” guide to planning and performing mitral valve repair surgery for mitral regurgitation. The book reviews the natural history of mitral regurgitation, the functional anatomy of the mitral valve, and the use of echocardiography in preoperative evaluation and surgical planning. Chapters describe and illustrate all techniques currently used for mitral valve repair and discuss results.

A bound-in DVD presents narrated video clips of six cases that show the application of specific techniques. Each case begins with preoperative echocardiograms demonstrating the mitral valve defect and proceeds through key surgical maneuvers.

Atlas of Two-Dimensional Echocardiography in Congenital Cardiac Defects

[amazon template=iframe image2&asin=0898387833]

In a relatively short period of time two-dimensional echo cardiography has become the most important non-invasive diagnostic tool in the daily practice of a pediatric cardiologist who predominantly deals with congenital structural heart disease in neonates and infants. Consequently, one-dimensional M-mode echocardiography has lost most of its importance particularly in this field. Therefore, an atlas showing exclusively two-dimensional echocardiograms of the most common and some less frequently occurring malformations appeared to be a useful addition to the existing literature. The confinement to two dimensional imaging alone allowed an elaborate presentation of the various defects with more than 200 selected still frames and many additional explanatory drawings and diagrams. The material was collected from patients who were referred to the Department of Pediatric Cardiology of the Wilhelmina University Children’s Hospital in Utrecht during a period of about 2 years. The two-dimensional echocardiographic findings were correlated with cardiac catheterization data and/or surgical procedures and/or post mortem investigations. The necessary echocardiographic equipment was aquired with financial aid from the Dutch Heart Foundation. We are indebted to Mrs. J. W. Wetselaar for her outstanding artwork. We also thank P. D. Woltema and F. J. van Waert for the photographic reproductions, Jacomine Bosma for preparing and type-setting the entire manuscript and Dr. N. Middleton for critically reading the English text. G. Practical Intracardiac Echocardiography in Electrophysiology

[amazon template=iframe image2&asin=140513500X]

Tremendous advances in intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) have coincided with the evolution of interventional electrophysiology.

This book is designed to provide both the electrophysiologist and echocardiographer with an in-depth view of the role and value of ICE during electrophysiologic procedures. A guide to techniques used for optimal ICE imaging in cardiac electrophysiology is provided. In addition, new and less-recognized uses of ICE in electrophysiological procedures are described and their clinical applications are presented.

Illustrated with over 500 images, many of which are in color, the book can also be used as a practical atlas. Readers need not be experts in the field of echocardiography to benefit from this practical approach to intracardiac imaging in electrophysiology.

Core Topics in Cardiac Anesthesia 2nd Edition

[amazon template=iframe image2&asin=052119685X]

Since the publication of the first edition of Core Topics in Cardiac Anaesthesia, the clinical landscape has undergone significant change. Recent developments include the increased use of electrophysiology, the resurgence of primary percutaneous intervention in acute coronary syndromes, the use of percutaneous devices in patients previously considered inoperable, and the withdrawal of aprotinin. Against this landscape, this invaluable resource has been fully updated. New chapters are dedicated to right heart valves, pulmonary vascular disease, cardiac tumours and cardiac trauma. All other chapters have been updated according to the latest international guidelines. Written and edited by an international author team with a wealth of expertise in all aspects of the perioperative care of cardiac patients, topics are presented in an easy to digest and a readily accessible manner. Core Topics in Cardiac Anaesthesia, Second Edition is essential reading for residents and fellows in anaesthesia and cardiac surgery and clinical perfusionists.
